Boiled and mashed potato, tomato, sweet potato, carrots, peas, and green beans are the best first foods to give your baby.

Fruits are perhaps one of the best foods you can give your baby during the weaning stage. They are an incredible source of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants. For instance, ripe bananas are rich in calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron. Apples contain vitamin B and C. Provide fruits in the form of a puree, juices or simply mashed.

Dal water can be an ideal weaning food for a baby. For this recipe, water has to be strained as babies cannot digest whole pulses. The texture of dal water is similar to that of breast milk and your baby will definitely enjoy it. Moong, masoor, and hari mung are nutritious dals, to begin with. You can also dip chapatti in dal and give it to your child. But make sure that the chapatti is soft and easily swallowable.

Plain, pureed steam rice or pureed with dal can be introduced to a baby without teeth. Rice is a good source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamin B complex and proteins. Rice is not only gluten-free but also adds bulk to the food. It is easily digestible and will not cause any kind of allergy.

Porridge is another soft food that you can give to your toothless baby. It is rich in fiber and carbohydrates and can serve as an ideal breakfast for your baby. Go for ragi, semolina and dalia porridge as they are highly nutritious and easy to make. They are a powerhouse of minerals and help in improving overall health.
